Aït Benhaddou with High Atlas

This fortified village (ighrem or ksar) was established along the former caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara desert. In more recent times it served as the scene for various movies. Representing a great example of earthen clay architecture, Aït Benhaddou has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
